Rob Ashford Appointed as New Associate Director of London's Donmar Warehouse

Director-choreographer Rob Ashford been appointed as new associate director of London's Donmar Warehouse, under artistic director Michael Grandage and alongside Jamie Lloyd, who took up the same title earlier this year.

Ashford is currently represented in Los Angeles by the transfer of the Donmar Warehouse production of Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry's Parade to the Mark Taper Forum (where it is running through Nov. 15), which marked his directorial debut. He has subsequently also directed Rachel Weisz in Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire which ran at the Donmar July 23-Oct. 3.

He was also the choreographer on Michael Grandage's production of Guys and Dolls for the Donmar at the Piccadilly Theatre, and has also worked with Grandage on the West End revival of Evita. Other London credits include Candide (for English National Opera, also seen at Italy's La Scala and France's La Chatelet), and the West End transfer of Thoroughly Modern Millie that he originally also choreographed on Broadway (where he won the Tony for Best Choreography). Other Broadway credits include Cry-Baby and Curtains; and for film, "Love Walked In" and "Beyond the Sea."

He's directing and choreographing a 2010 Broadway revival of Promises, Promises starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth.
