UnsungMusicalsCo. presents a concert of Caesar's Wife, featuring the world premiere of an original score written circa 1969 by Tony Award nominee Carolyn Leigh (Peter Pan, Little Me) and Grammy Award nominee Lee Pockriss (Ernest in Love), Nov. 18 at Peter Norton Symphony Space.
Conceived and directed by Ben West (The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), the concert — described as a "new behind-the-scenes look at the unfinished musical" — begins at 7:30 PM.
Caesar's Wife, according to UMC, "is a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the original, unfinished musical that told the real story behind the assassination. Blending live performances with audio clips of the songwriters’ original demo recording as well as original author correspondence, production outlines and authors' notes, this world premiere concert of Caesar's Wife is a unique exploration inside the artistic process of two legendary authors!"
The UMC presentation features choreography by Richard J. Hinds, musical direction and vocal and dance arrangements by Benet Braun, lighting design by Joe Hodge and sound design by Josh Liebert.
Peter Norton Symphony Space is located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. For more information, visit UnsungMusicals.org.
