Spanish-Language Production of Wicked Opens Oct. 17 in Mexico City

The hit musical Wicked, which will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Broadway this month, launches a Spanish-language production in Mexico City Oct. 17 at the Teatro Telcel.



Wicked is presented by the OCESA División Teatro in a co-production with original Broadway producers Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Gruop, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.

Ana Cecilia Anzaldúa and Danna Paola alternate in the role of Elphaba with Cecilia de la Cueva and Majo Pérez alternating in the role of Glinda. The cast also features Eugenio Montesoroa as the Wizard, Anahí Allué as Madame Morrible, Jorge Lau as Fiyero, Marisol Meneses as Nessarose, Adam Sadwing as Boq and Beto Torres as Doctor Dillamond.

Rounding out the cast are Barbara Sepúlveda, Charlene Arián, Viviana Barrera, Liesl Lar, Elvira Moreno, Estíbalitz Ruiz, Liz Navarro, Alma Escudero, Alicia Paola, Sebastián Treviño, Israel Estrada, Julius Brewster, Emanuel Gaytán, Mariano Villarelo, Beto Díaz, Kim Yáñez, Jonathan Castillo, Andrés Elvira, Edén Pintos, María Fernanda Caballero, Marcia Peña, Cesar Luna, Luis Carlos Villarreal and Raymundo Montoya.

Wicked, featuring a Tony-nominated score by Stephen Schwartz and a Tony-nominated book by Winnie Holzman, features direction by Joe Mantello. The production is expected to reflect the work of the original Broadway creative team. The musical follows the untold story of the Witches of Oz.
