The production will continue through Aug. 25.
Directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member and former artistic director Randall Arney, Slowgirl features fellow ensemble member William Petersen, who plays Sterling. The two-person drama also casts Rae Gray as Becky.
Slowgirl explores the relationship between Becky (Gray) and her uncle Sterling (Petersen), whose isolated Costa Rican jungle home she flees to following an accident at a house party. The two become reacquainted over the week they spend together, as secrets about both of their pasts are revealed.
Pierce's play will travel to the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, where Arney currently serves as artistic director, as part of the 2013-14 season.
The production team for Slowgirl includes Takeshi Kata (scenic design), Janice Pytel (costume design), Daniel Ionazzi (lighting design) and Richard Woodbury (sound design and original music). Additional credits include Erica Daniels (casting), Laura D. Glenn (stage manager) and Brianna Perry (production assistant).
