Arthur Kopit's Broadway stage version of High Society, based on the 1956 film of the same name and featuring music and lyrics by Cole Porter, is to return to the London stage. It will begin performances at Highgate's Upstairs at the Gatehouse Dec. 18, prior to an official opening Dec. 22, for a run through Jan. 31, 2010.

Directed by John Plews, artistic director of the theatre, and featuring musical supervision by Oli Jackson (currently associate musical director of the West End's Chicago) and choreography by Lee Proud (currently resident choreographer of the London production of Billy Elliot), the production features sets by Fi Russell, costumes by Geri Spencer and lighting by Howard Hudson.
The cast comprises Brendan Cull (whose credits include Spamalot and West Side Story), Jessica Bastic-Vines (Billy Elliot), Hayley Emma Otway (Crazy For You, London Palladium), Dympna Le Rasle, Alex Wadham, Kirby Hughes (Crazy For You, London Palladium), Peter Le Breuilly, Peter Kenworthy (Lost Musicals), Tony Lewis (Little Women - The Musical), Nicola Martin, Adam Pritchard, Brendan Matthew and Yasmin Wakefield.
High Society was previously seen in the West End in a production that transferred to the Shaftesbury Theatre from the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park in 2005.
