PHOTO CALL: Finian's Rainbow Recording Session

The company of Broadway's Finian's Rainbow headed into the studio Dec. 7 to record the show's cast album.

Produced by Tommy Krasker for PS Classics, the CD is aiming for a Feb. 2, 2010, release and will be available at the St. James Theatre three weeks prior.

The production stars Jim Norton (Finian), Kate Baldwin (Sharon), Cheyenne Jackson (Woody), Christopher Fitzgerald (Og) and Chuck Cooper (Bill), plus Guy Davis, Alina Faye, Brian Reddy, David Schramm, Terri White and William Youmans.

The Finian's Rainbow score boasts such classic Burton Lane-Yip Harburg songs as "Old Devil Moon," "How Are Things in Glocca Morra?," "When I'm Not Near the Girl I Love (I Love the Girl I'm Near)," "Look to the Rainbow" and "If This Isn't Love."

The press was briefly invited to sit in on the session as a few of the leads were laying down their tracks. Here is a glance inside the Avatar Studios:

Finian's Rainbow plays the St. James Theatre, 246 West 44th Street. The performance schedule is Tuesday through Thursday at 7 PM; Friday and Saturday at 8 PM; with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM.
