TDF's "Access for Young Audiences" Brings Broadway's Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella to Students with Hearing Loss

On Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, the matinee performances of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella featured American Sign Language interpreters and open captioning sponsored by TDF's "Access for Young Audiences." Twice a year, this program makes Broadway accessible to some 1,500 youngsters who are deaf or hard of hearing. Playbill stopped by the Nov. 13 performance as students from New York School for the Deaf, Martin Van Buren HS, PS 347, Midland Park HS and Westinghouse HS enjoyed the show. Cinderella star Santino Fontana and Director of TDF Accessibility Programs Lisa Carling, along with students from Middle College High School, were on hand to chat about the importance of making Broadway theatre all-inclusive.
