MARLENE SWARTZ
MARLENE SWARTZ (Co-Director) first worked with Blue Man Group when they performed at Soho Rep, the award-winning theatre company she founded in 1975. As artistic director, she was responsible for premieres by such diverse writers as David Hare, Rod Serling, Gunter Grass, Preston Sturges and Obie Award-winners Mac Wellman, Len Jenkin and Eric Overmyer. As a director, her work has ranged from classics such as Shakepeare, Pinter and Chekhov to new plays like The Idol Makers by Stephan Davis Parks for which she won a Best Director award. Ms. Swartz is currently directing/collaborating with monolguist Josh Kornbluth (Red Diaper Baby, The Mathematics of Change) on his new piece Pumping Copy. Ms. Swartz is also a consultant for the Independent Feature Project, an organization of independent film makers, and teaches screenwriting at NYU. Ms. Swartz's comic heroes are Buster Keaton and Blue Man Group.
