QUIARA ALEGRÍA HUDES Her recent play, Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue, was a 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist and is published by Dramatists Play Service. Her newest play, 26 Miles, premieres next season at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. Other works include Yemaya's Belly (also at Dramatists Play Service), The Adventures of Barrio Grrrl! and Holy Broth. Her children's book, Barrio ABC's, will be published by Arthur Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic, Inc. Hudes holds degrees from Yale and Brown universities, is a resident writer at New Dramatists and a previous Page 73 Playwriting Fellow. She was born and raised in West Philadelphia, where she began composing music and writing. She dedicates this work to Ray, Cecilia and Abuela Yuya.
