ROBERT LOPEZ and JEFF MARX

ROBERT LOPEZ AND JEFF MARX (Music and Lyrics, Original Concept). Broadway debut. They began writing Avenue Q in the BMI Workshop in 1999, thinking it was a great idea for a TV series – three years later it was produced Off-Broadway, and now it's on Broadway (with three Tony Awards), in Vegas and soon in London too! How the hell did this happen? Wow!! Bobby and Jeff are currently writing the screenplay and songs for a new movie-musical for Universal Pictures as well as writing a new Broadway musical with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park. Their other works include a new Muppet movie called Kermit, Prince of Denmark (which received the coveted Ed Kleban Award) and Ferdinand the Bull, a children's musical for TheatreWorks/USA. Bobby sends his love to Mom, Dad, Billy and his beautiful wife Kristen and baby daughter, Katie. Jeff thanks his family and friends and lithium. They are both extremely grateful for all the contributions of their wonderfully talented Avenue Q collaborators. Bobby and Jeff also wish to acknowledge and thank those artists who have provided them with so much inspiration: Jeff Moss, Joe Raposo, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Stephen Sondheim, Paul Williams, Billy Joel, Barry Manilow, John Kander and Fred Ebb, Stephen Trask and John Cameron Mitchell, Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Marc Shaiman. And of course, Frank Oz and Jim Henson.
